Gmail spam filtering

I've had a Gmail account for some time now, and have been keeping an eye on the effectiveness of its spam filtering. Without changing any of the settings at all, Gmail's spam filter seems far more effective than that used by Hotmail. I'm yet to really give some of the other competitors (especially Yahoo!) a decent test.
